Nick has always preferred being up late since his high school days, and that’s how this whole gig at St. George began for him.
He originally got a part-time job working late nights during high school and kept coming back through university while studying for his biological science degree. And in 2013, when he was offered the role full-time, it felt incredibly right.
“Although I finished my degree, I knew that I wasn’t enjoying it. I knew that St. George was the right place for me.”
The degree does come in handy, though, with its important aspects of food science and quality management, so it’s all worked out for the best.
“The thing is, it just doesn’t feel like work. It’s a brilliant bunch of people and we’re all friends.”
Pitching in is a trademark of everyone who works at the warehouse. And that’s certainly true for Nick. He’s always been ready, willing and able to lend a hand to make sure the job is completed and done correctly.
“Whatever I do, I put in as much effort as I can. Even when I was a casual, people came to me because they knew I’d always help out.”
One of the things that you’ll notice right away about Nick is that he’s always smiling. That’s just his nature, he’ll tell you. And most of his colleagues agree that he’s a happy-go-lucky person.
“It’s so easy to be happy at work because at St. George you’re not a number in a payroll system. You talk to the owners, you mix and match with other facets of the business and help each other out. It’s really nice to be part of the family.”
